Last year, I was absolutely over the moon to win Independent Business of the Year at the Christchurch Business Awards. It was such a special moment to be recognised amongst some of the best businesses in our local area.
After winning the Customer Service category in 2022, I wasn’t sure if I could make it two years on the trot. I was so shocked when they announced that the winner of the Independent Business of the Year was Christchurch Derma Spa!
The winners in each category of the 2023 Christchurch Awards were automatically entered into the East Dorset Gold Awards 2024. Entries were judged against the winners from the 2023 Poole, Bournemouth, Purbeck, Ringwood, Ferndown and Wimborne Business Awards. Apparently, there were over 1,000 entries across all seven awards, so quite a bit of competition .
The winners and runners-up were announced in an online ceremony. I was so excited to find out that Christchurch Derma Spa was runner-up for Independent Business of the Year ❤️
The announcer said that the judges had scored me highly for “continually working to develop services and products to stay ahead of the competition,” delivering “excellent customer service,” and “running such a popular independent business in a very crowded business sector.”

The award really means so much to me. Congratulations to all the other winners, including Absolute Music in Bournemouth, who won the Independent Business of the Year category and fellow Christchurch businesses Bridge Health & Wellbeing, Buddy & Noo, Studio Arkell, Avon Marina, Eco Sustainable Solutions and Maw, who were all winners or runners-up in their categories.
Apparently, I now get to attend a special celebratory event in May, cruise around Poole Harbour with the other winners and runners-up, and receive my certificate. That sounds like a great day out!
