Live on Radio Solent: ️Back to School Summer Special

OMG – I was live on the radio in the actual studio! I have chatted with BBC Radio Solent presenter Lucy Ambache several times over the past couple of years. She first got in touch during lockdown to talk about how local businesses were coping with COVID. Since then, she’s kindly invited me on to her show by phone several times. But this time, she asked me to join her in the actual studios for her Friday social! Back to School Summer Special I had such an amazing afternoon with Lou and her other guest, Denise Brimms, owner and founder of Brimms Yoga. They are both amazing ladies, and the session was full of giggles, fun and the Fri-yay feeling. It was a fabulous way to end the week! We chatted all things back to school, including how we managed … Continue reading

Skin Cancer & Melanoma: Take action to protect your skin

It might not feel like the sun has made much of an appearance yet this year☔, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be protecting our skin from the damaging effects of the sun. May is Melanoma & Skin Cancer Awareness Month Here are some rather scary stats from Melanoma UK: Every 9 minutes, one person dies of melanoma skin cancer Your skin can burn after just 15 minutes of sun exposure – wherever you are 82% of people don’t use sun protection, even though they know the sun damages their skin Men under 49 are more likely to develop melanoma than any other cancer 1/4 of people only use sun protection on holiday, but the sun doesn’t just shine on the beach Melanoma incidence rates are rising around the world, up 27% in the last decade The good news is … Continue reading

Super excited to launch my new skincare brand Alumier 🤩

Exciting news! I am thrilled to be launching AlumierMD skincare at the clinic. Launched in 2016, AlumierMD is one of the fastest-growing medical skincare brands. I first saw their products in Vogue magazine and kept seeing them winning awards. After some further research, I started using their products six months ago, and I have been blown away by the results. Having acne-prone skin, the products have really helped keep blemishes and redness away, and I have seen an amazing change in my skin. I have also been using their eye products to help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, and I love them 💞 Not only are their products super-effective, the Alumier values really resonate with me too CLEAN Products that are socially responsible, clinically tested and free from over 1,300 substances banned by the E.U., F.D.A and Health Canada. … Continue reading

5 tips to look after your skin during the festive season

This year’s festive season may be a little different to previous years. With social distancing rules and restrictions still in place, the Christmas party is likely to be virtual rather than physical. But even if your celebrations may look a little different this year, looking after your skin is just as important. Here are my top skincare tips to keep your skin healthy this Christmas: 1. Drink plenty of water It’s an old one, but it’s true. And best of all, it’s free! Your skin is made up of cells which need water to function properly. Drinking enough water helps flush out toxins from the body. Without enough water, your skin is more likely to become dry, flaky and more prone to wrinkles. And who wants more wrinkles if you can avoid it?! 2. Use SPF When the temperature is … Continue reading

Chatting to BBC Radio Solent about Lockdown 2.0

This morning our founder Kirsty Campbell spoke to Lucy Ambache on BBC Solent about the impact of Lockdown 2.0 here at Christchurch Derma Spa. You can listen to the recording here: Sadly, Lockdown 2.0 means that we will have to close our doors at Christchurch Derma Spa once again. We all knew the news was coming but didn’t want to believe it. Taking all of the necessary precautions, we’ve been very safe. We’ve been seeing fewer clients during the day to allow time for the deep clean in between appointments. Wearing full PPE, we have adjusted to the visor, face mask, gloves, switching towels round etc. We’ve done everything possible, but it’s out of our hands and we’ve got to stay positive. We’ve managed to squeeze as many of our wonderful clients in before Thursday 5th November as we can. … Continue reading

Take action on ‘maskne’

Are you suffering from more acne breakouts on your face recently? It could be because you are wearing a face mask. ‘Maskne’ describes acne which has been caused by wearing a mask. Unfortunately, if you are prone to acne, wearing a face mask may make things worse for your skin. Face masks are of course a vital part of the government’s strategy to combat the spread of COVID-19. But they limit the airflow around your face. This means your skin isn’t able to breathe as it normally would. Skin cells that would normally shed during the day are trapped on your skin. The mask itself also rubs against the skin which can allow bacteria, dirt and oil to get underneath the surface pf your skin and clog up pores. You can easily tell if it’s maskne as your breakout will be … Continue reading

What skincare products are right for me?

Okay let’s just say it, there are TOO many skincare products out there. How the hell do you know if: A) you are using the correct skincare products for your skin B) If they are any good at achieving the skin you wish to have?! So what type of skincare products you should have all comes down to what you want to achieve from your products. Everyone wants a healthier, clear complexion. It’s about finding the right products for your skin and I know that can be totally mind-boggling. First things first, let’s talk cleanser Personally, I wouldn’t use any other cleanser other than a foam cleanser. Why? Because it removes all bacteria which, if left, will turn into bacteria. Bacteria will then turn into breakouts. Foam cleanser leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean and refreshed. Clinicare foam cleanser is … Continue reading
